JOB PURPOSE

The role of the Workshop Manager is to:

  •  Manage the process of optimising workshop resources to meet agreed departmental budgets.
  •  Ensure customer requirements are fully understood and communicated in an effective manner to other members of the department.
  •  Support the Aftersales Manager in managing the sourcing and supply of manufacturer vehicle parts and monitor all service processes.
  •  Support the Aftersales Manager in achieving service volumes and profit objectives through motivating and developing the workshop team to be fully competent in their productivity.
  •  Deliver Manufacturer CXM targets through right first time, on time workshop management and through class leading internal and external communication

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Calculate and manage the effective use of workshop resources for the business.
  •  Implement technician retention tools as per company guidelines
  •  Recruitment of technicians
  •  Ensure workshop is hitting and maintaining EVHC targets
  •  Monitoring and being proactive ensuring work levels are sufficient to meet targets
  •  Monitor individual and workshop efficiencies to ensure key performance indicators are met.
  •  Plan the distribution of work amongst the team utilising available skills mix.
  •  Identify individual training and development needs and manage bookings.
  •  Manage liaison between workshop and service reception on customer vehicle progress.
  •  Monitor and maintain workshop standards in accordance with brand requirements alongside the Workshop Manager.
  •  Ensure understanding and adherence to the requirements of manufacturer service requirements and customer satisfaction indicators.
  •  Maintain and develop own skills and technical knowledge.
  •  Maintain safe working practices and abide by the working rules and standards of the business.
  •  Ensure all service processes meet brand standards requirements and that they are implemented in a consistent manner.
  •  Regularly communicate and interact with members of other departments to develop the business and the business team ethos.
  •  Communicate regularly to the workshop team, sharing updates on targets and internal communications

Skills & Requirements

Essential:

  •  Competency in numeracy, literacy and IT.
  •  Good organisational and leadership skill with the ability to delegate and motivate the team.
  •  Strong problem solving and decision-making skills with the ability to work under pressure.
  •  Full UK driving licence.
  •  Smart appearance.
  •  Energy and enthusiasm.
  •  A full understanding of workshop department and KPI’s

Experience

Desirable:

  •  Relevant manufacturer experience.
